Santiago, April 5, 2019. Viñedo Chadwick 2017, the iconic wine of the Chadwick – Errázuriz family, scored a perfect 100 points from wine critic James Suckling.
This outstanding recognition marks a new milestone in the history of Viñedo Chadwick, achieving 100 points for the second time since its inaugural release. Previously, the 2014 vintage was also awarded with a perfect 100 points score in May 2016, becoming the first Chilean wine to achieve the world’s highest recognition. This perfect score consolidates Puente Alto D.O. in Maipo Valley and Chile among the most prestigious world-class appellations for red wines, such as Bordeaux, Tuscany and Napa.
Following his recent visit to Chile, during which he tasted more than 1,200 wines from different valleys, international wine critic James Suckling published his article entitled “Chile’s tale of two cities” in which he awarded Viñedo Chadwick 2017 100 points: “The pure fruit and juicy tannins are so succulent and enticing. Full body and soft, silky tannins. Complete. Everything is where it should be. Ripe fruit and tangy acidity provide energy and balance. Love the finish. Precise and fine-grained texture. Cabernet sauvignon with a touch of petit verdot.”
Eduardo Chadwick, President of Viñedo Chadwick, was thrilled and commented: “Today we are very honoured that James Suckling has awarded us for the second time with his top recognition, awarding us with 100 points for this unique vintage 2017. This perfect score consolidates Chile as a world-class wine producer and Viñedo Chadwick as its best exemplary of top quality wine. Over the past 19 vintages the quality of Viñedo Chadwick has been consistently recognized by top critics around the globe, demonstrating its place as a world-class wine.”
Francisco Baettig, Viñedo Chadwick Head Winemaker, added: “Viñedo Chadwick 2017 is elegant, full of subtleties, very vivid and fresh on the nose, featuring a diaphanous wine with crystalline purity and of great complexity. Fresh and intense, its magnificent tannins caresses the palate with great finesse, elegance and persistence, auguring a delightful ageing potential.”
